Students and guardians get their own home screen on the web, built around the same two questions a guardian opens the app to ask: is my child okay, and is anything due. This guide walks through both — sign in first with [your Institflow account](https://docs.institflow.com/en/guides/your-institflow-account), exactly as any student or guardian does.

## The student home

- **Next session** — the next class on your schedule: course, group, time, and how soon it starts.
- **Attendance ring** — your rate over the last 30 days, with your absent and late counts underneath. The ring's colour comes from two thresholds your institute sets (defaults 85% and 70%): at or above the warn threshold it's neutral, below it amber, below the critical threshold red.
- **Balance strip** — your outstanding total and next due date, with an "Overdue" badge when something is past due. It disappears entirely when you owe nothing and nothing is overdue.
- **Today's remaining sessions**, **your latest published grades** (a "New" badge marks any published since your previous visit — never on your very first), **course progress** (when your institute uses courses — carries a compact [what to do next](https://docs.institflow.com/en#what-to-do-next) list) and **unread announcements** — each a link through to its own full page.

Every tile links to a page behind it:

- **Schedule** — your own week, Sunday to Saturday, one card per session with course, group, time and status; step a week at a time.
- **Attendance** — the same 30-day ring plus your full history, filterable by month, with your rate for that month and a note on any late/excused entries.
- **Grades** — your published grades by group, with the group average alongside each of yours for context; filterable by group.
- **Billing** — your open invoices and a running-balance statement; open an invoice to see its lines, its payments and what's left.
- **Messages** — your notifications, unread ones highlighted, with a mark-all-read action.

## The guardian home

With more than one child linked to your account, a **child selector** sits at the top of the page — your children's first names (or initials), plus an **All children** option. With exactly one child, there's no selector at all; you just see that child's home directly.

For the selected child, seven cards, each linking to that part of the child's page:

- **Next session** — course, group, time, room and teacher when known.
- **Attendance alert** — "absent 2 of the last 10 sessions" in plain words, coloured by the same institute thresholds as the student ring, with one addition: **two or more absences in the last 10 sessions always shows at least an amber warning**, even if the 30-day rate itself is still fine. The rule in full: below the critical threshold is red; otherwise below the warn threshold is amber; otherwise two or more recent absences is still amber; anything else is neutral.
- **Balance** — outstanding total and next due date, with an "Overdue" badge.
- **Grades** — a "new" badge marks any grade published since your previous visit to this institute, read the same way on every device; nothing is marked new on your very first visit.
- **Assignments** — how many are due soon or already late, amber when something's due soon, red when something's late.
- **Quizzes** — the same for quizzes: how many are due soon or already late, coloured the same way as Assignments.
- **Latest report** — the period the most recent progress report covers, if one exists.

Choosing **All children** replaces this with one compact card per child, the same facts in brief.

## What to do next

A **What to do next** list gathers what actually needs attention into one place — on the student's Courses landing page (full list), as a compact tile under course progress on the student home, and on a guardian's child Overview tab. It lists due assignments first, earliest due date first, with an "Overdue" badge on anything already past due, then units — quizzes included — the student hasn't started yet or has only partly worked through, in course order. Like course progress itself, it only appears when the institute uses courses.

## The Children page and child detail

**Children** lists every child linked to your account: name, this month's attendance chip (coloured the same way as the home cards), and outstanding balance. Opening a child takes you to their detail page, with tabs **Overview** · **Attendance** · **Grades** · **Schedule** · **Reports** · **Billing** — the Overview tab is the same set of facts as the home card, laid out as a page instead of a card; Billing carries the statement and the open invoices, including where to attach a payment proof (next section).

## Attaching a payment proof

Guardians and students never record a payment themselves — that stays a staff action. What you can do, on any open invoice (a child's Billing tab for a guardian, your own invoice page for a student), is **attach a payment proof**: press **Attach payment proof**, choose a photo of your receipt (an image file, up to 20 MB), and fill in the **amount** (prefilled with the invoice's remaining balance, in the invoice's own currency — you can change it), the **date paid**, and an optional **note**. Submitting uploads the photo and records the proof against the invoice.

The invoice then carries the proof's real status, read from the server on every device: **Awaiting confirmation** while a secretary hasn't reviewed it yet; **Confirmed**, once a secretary records the payment from it — the payment then appears in the invoice's payments table and on your statement, exactly like any other recorded payment; or **Rejected**, with the secretary's note explaining why. Only one proof can be awaiting confirmation on an invoice at a time — attach another once the current one is confirmed or rejected.

On your institute's side, a secretary or manager holding the payments permission sees every proof attached to an invoice — its date, amount, note and photo — and either **confirms** it (choosing how the payment actually arrived: cash, bank transfer, card or other; this records the payment in the same step) or **rejects** it with a required note that you then see on your own copy.

## Assignments as a student

An assignment appears as a unit inside its course, with instructions, a due-date countdown, and a form for whichever ways your teacher allowed (text, a link, a file). You can resubmit as many times as you like — right up until it's graded. Once due, if late submissions aren't allowed, the form closes; if they are, you can still submit and it's marked late. A graded submission shows your score and any feedback; if your teacher returns it for revision instead, you can submit again.

## Assignments as a guardian

A child's Overview and home card show how many assignments are **due soon** and how many are **late** — a guardian never submits or sees the full instructions form, only the counts and, once graded, the child's score.

## Privacy note

A guardian only ever sees what their own linked children's records carry — never another family's data, and never a staff-only view like the tenant's full member list or another child's record. Everything on this page is scoped the same way the API itself scopes a guardian's reads: to the children actually linked to your account.
